As part of our research we went to The Making of Harry Potter in the Time Warner studios, a film industry conglomerate. This gave us an idea of how much work went into a film to create a conglomerate film, and how different areas worked. Here is a video of our trip that my group helped contribute to. Contact Sheet of Photos I took whilst on the tripOur trip to the Harry Potter studios helped us choose whether to do a blockbuster or independent film. We chose independent as unlike Harry Potter, we want to make a realistic film. When I looked at the Box Office all time records I saw that the top 5 films were all by conglomerates, and all 5 of them were unrealistic. So because of our film being a serious, realistic film my company thinks its best to do an independent film.
Presentation of Genres in Prezi. (Due to a long sign up process I used a member of my teams account. All work was done by myself only.)
Pale ProductionsIdea on paper Final IndentHere is our final indent. Our team member, Peter, learnt how to do create this on Adobe after effects. We will use this at the start of our film. Discovery DistributionAfter our company indent was created we made a Distribution company logo. First we brain stormed ideas for the logo: Then we created three of them. One of them was a still due to not liking the idea as much as the other two, and then creating them in After Effects to compare the two. We decided to use the second idea as it was more animated. It also includes two colours which according to Pantone, are in season for when our film and distribution logo was filmed. The mountains also represent traveling and adventuring, aka discovering, so they link with our name. The font, unlike the last font, isn't serifed, so it looks more modern, something our company wants to promote.
I created promotional posters for my film to gain awareness of the film. Advertising the filmWe printed off our posters... ...and then placed them around the school, which means one of our main target audience (teenagers) will see a film aimed towards them and their interests We placed them in the common room, on notice boards, and next to a film poster in the Media department, which will gain the interest of people interested in films and media. This will raise awareness of our film.
What I learnt
I learnt about my audiences and was able to look at films I had seen to relate the theme of my film to professional films.
This is my idea of our target audience. I used the age ranges of:
0-10 years old 11-20 years old 21-35 years old 36-50 years old 51+ years old as I guessed that these age ranges would think similarly between topics. This is because we want to attract to teenagers mainly as well as young adults. The topic of the film could be too heavy for a 0-10 year old and a 51+ year old may not relate to a teenagers issues. the age range of 36 - 50 year olds however may be interested due to being parents of teenagers and want to know how to relate to them. |
